Nonprofit Mergers and Collaborations

2016, 3 February

In the current context of the Brazilian social sector, we recognized that NGOs and social enterprises are looking for ways to collaborate to scale their social impact, improve the quality of their programs, stregthen their fundraising capacity, administrative efficiency, financial sustainability and risk management. The better structured a NGO collaboration, the greater its potential to increase organizational efficiency and scale impact in the community.  In this abstract we presented cases of different types of NGO collaborations and mergers including mission-driven, program-related, and infrastructure sharing, bringing to light their benefits and challenges.  The portuguese version of the Nonprofit Collaborations and Mergers study was presented at the GIFE Conference in March 2014.  Click on the title to find an abstract of the study in English.
