SITAWI Finance for Good, a long-standing member of the PPA, will now manage the Partnership for the Amazon Platform (PPA) philanthropic fund. The Fund will receive contributions in the form of donations from partners in the initiative to enable partnerships and projects within the scope of the objectives and mission of the PPA. The PPA Fund Manager is a contracted organization, after selection by public notice, which involved several companies, to manage these resources. SITAWI was selected for its experience in social finance and good governance.
“PPA grew and it was time to include a fund manager to strengthen and support a more mature platform. We are happy that SITAWI was selected in the call for philanthropic fund manager, as the organization has been following the PPA since the beginning and brings incredible value to the Partnership, not only for its experience, but for the shared vision of the PPA ”, celebrated Anna Tonnes, USAID/Brazil environment director.
The contract was signed via the International Biodiversity Alliance and the International Tropical Agriculture Center (CIAT), USAID’s strategic partner in implementing the PPA. “Collaborative action and partnerships between agencies are critical to address the challenges in protecting biodiversity in the Amazon. The fund manager is a central part of the collaboration strategy and will help to increase the actions of the PPA”, said Jesus Quintana, Americas director for the Alliance. Partnership and collaboration are at the heart of PPA, and the new role of SITAWI will contribute to this. “This agreement is not only a symbol of our cooperation, but also highlights the ability to bring together complementary institutions for a common purpose”, explained Augusto Corrêa, Executive Secretary of PPA.
One of the reasons why SITAWI was chosen is its history of partnering with different actors in promoting sustainable development. Tomaz Solberg, SITAWI board member, added: “At SITAWI, we believe that social and environmental issues are so challenging that it is not possible to solve them alone. We need several partners, people with diverse experiences and different perspectives that can work together, we need partnerships. We know that by joining forces we can do more”.
