During the Innovation panel, Seifert discussed impact investing and the importance of innovating and diversifying sources for conservation funding. “In a public budget freeze scenario, it is vital to discuss different ways to make conservation units financially sustainable. Innovative impact investment instruments can be part of the solution,” he said.

The event, held by Funbio and the Ministry of Environment, is part of a series of debates on the challenges and opportunities of financing environmental conservation projects. These events aim to help foster access to and use of these resources, in addition, to incentivize innovation and the development of new sources of financing.
